History

Establishment of the In-Service Training Centre ushered a new era in the history of Punjab Police for further enhancing the professional efficiency by introducing new innovations and techniques in training during the hey days of terrorism. As it is a well stated fact that nothing is permanent in the mortal world except the change. Terrorism proved a blessing in disguise for police training in Punjab. The avenues of training has extended and expanded by leaps & bounds and underwent a sea change.

The In-Service Training Centre was established in the year 1993. The basic aim was to impart In-Service Training to the police personnel belonging to all wings of Punjab Police i.e. Distt. Police, PAP, Commando & IRB. The Institution imparts training to other Para-military forces in the country like ITBP, CISF, CRPF and BSF which trust extensively this training Institute for the training of their personnel concerning Gunmen & PSO training. This training centre also imparts basic training to the recruits of all wings of Punjab as well as other states.

The Training Centre is situated near Kapurthala on Kapurthala-Subhanpur Road, at a distance of approximately 3 Kms from Kapurthala General Bus Stand. Kapurthala has a Railway Station at a distance of approximately 5 Kms from the centre, where passenger trains stop. The nearest major Railway Station is Jalandhar, where every mail and superfast train on Delhi-Amritsar and Delhi- Jammu route stops. Taxi & Bus services are also available throughout the day from Kapurthala Bus Stand.
